Music Ministries
Music is an important component of worship and community at Good Shepherd. Many parishioners of all ages make musical offerings to God as they sing in our three choirs. St. Augustine has often been quoted as saying that “those who sing pray twice.” Music at Good Shepherd, which is our concert series that we bring to the entire community of Rocky Mount, includes services sung by our own choirs as well as performances by outstanding local, regional, and internationally acclaimed artists and ensembles. All are welcome to join us in making music to the Glory of God.
The Cherub Choir is for children ages 3 through 1st grade. This choir learns fundamentals of music and liturgy and sings at the 10:30 A.M. service a few times per year. The choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoon from 5:15 untill 5:45.
The Alleluia Choir is for children in 2nd through 8th grades and 1st graders with excellent reading ability. This choir sings at the 10:30 AM service every two to three weeks from September through May, as well as for some other occasions. The choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoon from 5:15 until 6:15. The Good Shepherd Adult Choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 7:30 till 9:00 P.M.
