Q: What curriculum does the program offer and is it individualized for my child?
A: Good Shepherd Day School utilizes the Creative Curriculum. the curriculum is a highly recognized curriculum written by Diane Dodge. It is used throughout the country in early childhood programs and elementary schools. It was developed to match children's developmental levels with age appropriate activities and is individualized for each child.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: We are open Monday - Friday beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m.
Q: What qualification do the teachers have?
A: All teachers are certified in First Aid and CPR, are credential holders by the State of North Carolina for the Early Childhood Credential, and are required to enroll in college coursework towards a degree if they have not currently earned one.
Q: Do you offer part time care?
A: We offer a full day program; however, parents may choose to bring their child part time. There is no deduction in tuition for students attending part days.
Q: Is the program available year round?
A: Yes, we are open year round.
Q: I've been on the waiting list for a long period of time. When can I expect to be offered a slot?
A: We are able to offer more slots between the months of May - August. Once a slot has been offered to you, you have 3 business days to begin paying for the slot. If you decline, the next place child will be offered the slot and you will take the second place. If a second offer is made and you decline, your name will be placed at the bottom of the waiting list. If a third offer is made and you decline, your name will be removed from the list.
Q: Should I tour the facility prior to being placed on a waiting list?
A: It is not required that you tour our facility prior to being placed on the waiting list. We do recommend that you come in and take a tour so that we may devote enough time to you to answer your questions.
Q: Can my child visit prior to enrolling in the program?
A: We welcome and encourage children who will potentially enroll in the program to visit. We recommend that you bring your child to visit during various points in the day so the child can see a variety of experiences at work.
Q: Are parents required to volunteer?
A: Yes, parents are required to volunteer one hour per month.
Q: Is there a deduction in the tuition for days my child is not present?
A: Tuition is due whether the child attends or not.
Q: How do you handle illnesses with the children?
A: Children who become sick while in attendance will be isolated from the other children until someone arrives to take them home. children who have fever, diarrhea, vomiting, etc. are required to be excluded from attending.
Q: Why do I have to pay a supply fee?
A: Supply fees are used to enhance our program and pay for field trips, equipment, and repairs.
