Opportunities for children to learn and grow in the faith

At good Shepherd children have many ways to learn and grow in the faith.  "Faith Quest" is a Sunday morning hands-on exploration of the faith.  The cherub and alleluia choirs are ways to learn music and sing the glory of God. Our 9:00 worship service includes a childrens' homily as a way to give age-appropriate meaning to the scripture.  Come and explore...

Faith Quest is our Sunday School ministry for pre-k through 5th graders.  This is a hands-on, active program where through art, cooking, games, story-telling and more our children learn how the stories of the bible art part of their own lives...

The Nursery is open each Sunday morning from 8:45 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. (9:45 to 11:45 in the summer).   The nursery is staffed by a group of attentive and well-trained women.  Buzzers are available for parents so that they are never that far away.

The Cherub Choir is for children ages 3 through 1st grade.  This choir learns fundamentals of music and liturgy and sings at the 9:00 A.M. service four to five times per year, at the St. Francis Day service, on Christmas Eve, and at the Mother's Day Dinner Theater.  The choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 till 4:30 with refreshments following.

The Alleluia Choir is for children in 2nd through 8th grades and 1st graders with excellent reading ability.  This choir sings at the 9:00 AM service every two to three weeks from September through May, at the St. Francis Day service, at Lessons & Carols, on Christmas Eve, and at the Mother's Day Dinner Theater.   The choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 till 5:30 with refreshments following.

Vacation Bible School is a hands-on week of faith exploration in the context on art, games, music and fun.  Each year Good Shepherd joins with a number of other area congregations to hold one of the most exciting and fullfilling weeks of faith exploration in the city.  VBS is a powerful way to again display the love of God made known to us in the stories of scripture and our children always have a marvelous experience that sticks with them throughout the year and beyond.
