Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Songs: A Concert of Sacred Vocal and Organ Music
This concert will feature Good Shepherd’s own Maureen Kroncke, mezzo-soprano and Lawrence Goering, organ and piano in a program including works by Bach, Mendelssohn, Howells, Sowerby, Rorem, and arrangements of hymns and spirituals.

St. Francis Day Choral Evensong with Blessing of the Animals
Bring your pets and a blanket or lawn chair for this special service that will be sung by the Cherub, Alleluia, and Good Shepherd Choirs in the Hunton Memorial Cloister Garden.

Dorothy Papadakos: An Afternoon at the Movies
Internationally acclaimed concert organist, Dorothy Papadakos, will improvise to Charlie Chaplin’s 1921 silent film The Kid. Before the film, she will play songs from the roaring twenties to set the mood for the movie.
Sunday, December 14, 5 p.m. A Service of Nine Lessons and Carols
This much loved annual candlelight service sung by the Alleluia and Good Shepherd Choirs will include traditional carols, hymns, and anthems. A wassail reception will follow the service. Childcare will be provided.

Prelude to the Eleven O’clock Christmas Eve Eucharist: Music of Handel
Good Shepherd soloists will sing arias from George Frideric Handel’s The Messiah and his recently discovered Gloria (a five movement work for soprano soloist) as the prelude to the eleven o’clock candlelight Christmas Eve Eucharist.

With Harp and Pipe: A Concert of Music for Flute and Harp
Vonda Darr, harpist will join Beth Kupsco, flutist to present a duo candlelight concert including works by Debussy, Ibert, Nielsen, and Hovhaness, Celtic and Irish selections, and hymn arrangements. This program will be the third annual Lynn Kroncke Memorial Concert.

With Strings and Lyre: Carter and Wyatt Coleman, Duo-Violin Concert
Carter Coleman, this year's winner of the Tar River Concerto Competition, returns to Rocky Mount with his twin brother Wyatt for a program of violin duets and solos featuring works by composers Brahms, Bach, Lalo, and Kabalevsky. Pianist June Burbage of Raleigh will accompany them. As active members in the Philharmonic Association Orchestras, the Coleman brothers have served as Concertmaster, Associate Concertmaster, and Principals. They also share a love of chamber music and attended the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival this summer.

My Soul Doth Magnify The Lord: A Program of Music and Art Celebrating Mary, the Mother of God, Marking the Feast of the Annunciation
The Good Shepherd Choir and soloists will sing a program of music inspired by Mary, the Mother of God. This program will include several settings of Ave Maria (some familiar and others new) and other works inspired by the life of Mary from the Annunciation to the poignant scenes of the Stabat Mater and the Pietà. While the music is sung, images of great works of art inspired by Mary will be shown.
Sunday, May 3, 5 p.m. Good Shepherd Sunday Choral Evensong
The Good Shepherd Choir will sing this candlelight evening service celebrating Good Shepherd Sunday in the English cathedral tradition featuring music by George Dyson and Harry Bramma.
Sunday, May 10, 6 p.m. Mother’s Day Dinner Theatre
For the tenth annual Mother’s Day Dinner Theatre, the Cherub Choir, Alleluia Choir, children from the Good Shepherd Day School and the Good Shepherd Youth will perform a musical to be announced. There is a small charge for the dinner served at this event and tickets are required. We will begin selling tickets a few weeks prior to the dinner.
